Sophie McCoy brings her passion for student mentorship to the leadership team at Mindspire, along with over 25 years of tutoring and advising experience. She graduated from Phillips Academy before earning an Sc.B. in Chemistry with Honors from Brown University and a Ph.D from the University of Chicago, where she won the Best Dissertation in the Biological Sciences. During her doctoral studies, Sophie was a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow and National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellow. She conducted her postdoctoral training in the United Kingdom on a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship from the European Commission. Now a tenured faculty member and Director of Graduate Studies in Biology, she has taught and mentored students at the university level for over a decade. She received a CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation, which recognizes her commitments to teaching and mentorship.
