Overview:
SENIORS looking to complete a majority of their college application work this summer - including Common Application, main essay draft, activities/resume, scaling your app deadlines, and understanding US admissions? We encourage you to join us for our July/August Senior College Application Workshop taking place from July 20th - August 16th.
The Senior College Application Workshop will offer materials and information delivered both live and asynchronously; in-person meetings are offered 2x daily (10:00 am, 7:00 pm) to accommodate your busy summer schedules; recordings will be shared after each live session.
The comprehensive workshop will be led by Malissa Takacs, an independent college counselor who has been in the field of counseling and admissions for over 20 years; she has worked as a school-based counselor in the US and abroad and is currently a Senior Application reviewer for Northeastern University. Malissa brings her experience of US college admissions, her practical advice and tips, and is equipped to guide you efficiently through the process of preparing your best college application and essays.

Live Session 1 (July 25th, 10:00 am or 7:00 pm) - Intros & Getting Started
- Who is your audience: How apps are read - pro tips/things to avoid
- Overview of all Common Application Sections and how to complete and maximize them
Live Session 2 (July 30th, 10:00 am or 7:00 pm) - Common App Completion (Pro Tips/Focus on Activities, start Essay Brainstorm)
- Focus on Activities Page and personal resume drafting
- Getting started on main Common App personal statement
Live Session 3 (August 6th, 10:00 am or 7:00 pm) - Essay Focus (understanding essay structure choices)
- Explain/examples of essay structure choices
- Refining brainstorm topics, outlining and essay drafting some text
- First 1:1 Appointment with Malissa Takacs (essay topic and resume draft feedback)
Live Session 4 (August 13th, 10:00 am or 7:00 pm) - Essays Continued & Wrapping Up
- Other essays you will encounter - supplemental US, UK, UC’s
- Scaling the rest of your apps, managing your dates/deadlines to complete your apps; what to expect after submission
Follow-up 1:1 Sessions with Malissa (August 17th - 23rd)
Optional: Follow up Appointments can be made with Malissa for an hourly fee after workshop concludes
